Limburgse vlaai

This pastry pie originated from the southern region of The Netherlands. It is traditionally filled with a variety of fruits.

Stamppot

This traditional Dutch dish is mashed potatoes paired with another vegetable such as cabbage, carrot, onion, or greens. It is served with smoked sausage.

Oliebollen are fried dough balls simialr to donuts. It is topped off with powder sugar.

Herring

This fish dish is firm tradition in Holland. The haring is cured by pancreatic salted brine. It originated by Dutch sailors.

Stroopwafels

Syrup-filled wafers topped off with brown sugar and a hint of cinnamon are stroopwafels. They are usually warm and served on the streets. They can be as large as a dinner plate.

Breakfast- Bread/toast with jelly, Dutch cheese, boiled eggs, and coffe or tea are commom for breakfast

 

Lunch-  Open-faced sandwiches, kroket (deep-fried beef ragout), and frikandel (deep-fried sausage) are common for lunch

 

Dinner- Groentesoep (vegetable soup), gekookte aardappelen (boiled potatoes), and karbonade (pork chop) are common for dinner
